A survey of 250 IT directors by IT consultantTouchstone Groupsays accessing and sharing business information within a company is the biggest challenge.

More than 40% of those surveyed said IT support for such collaboration was a priority for next year. Demonstrating the business value of IT was the second priority (19%), with customer relationship management coming third (18%).

Corporate spend control was in fourth place (16%), and innovation fifth (3%).

The survey also revealed a positive outlook for the IT sector across the UK, with more than 57% of IT decision makers planning an increase in their IT investment over the next 12 months, with 17% planning a "significant" increase (more than 10% of current budgets).

Only 5% expected to see a decrease. This, despite the fact commentators and analysts are predicting negative effects on IT spending from an impending global recession.
