The Housing
Corporationhas signed a three-year
outsourcing contract with IT supplierSteria.
The contract stipulates core infrastructure management, through
the hosting of business applications and support services.
The contract also covers the upgrade of the corporation's
desktop and server infrastructure, which it admitted needs to be
more resilient and stable. The service aims to go live 2 January
2008, with service transformation being phased in over the
following six months.
The outsourcing
deal reflects the changing organisation needs of a government
agency with a £3.9bn budget for 2006 to 2008, during which the
organisation aims to fund 84,000 new homes.
"The contract provides for flexibility and is scaleable," said
Peter Marsh, the Housing Corporation's deputy chief executive, "We
are delighted to award this contract to Steria after an extensive
procurement process."
Under the government's new HomeBuy initiative, it hopes to
encourage 35,000 new home buyers on to the property ladder.
