Bexley councilis to enter a major business transformation programme which will support flexible working and save it millions of pounds in operations costs.

The programme - known as Bexley First - will see the vast majority of council staff working from offices within a major development on the current site of the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath.

The council hopes the move will be completed by 2012. Bexley will finance its headquarters and a major investment in IT through the sale of several sites currently used for council offices.

It expects to save in the region of £50m over 25 years as a result of the move and a switch to more efficient and flexible ways of working.
