Salford City Council has implemented thermal imaging
technology to identify houses with poor insulation.
The system, from
aerial imaging and remote sensing specialist BlueSky, shows
which houses have the greatest heat loss. The system will help the
council target its programmes to insulate houses and will help to
raise awareness of energy efficiency.
Another benefit of the system is that it will identify houses
with a lower relative temperature, in which residents may need
support to adequately heat their home.
"The intelligence afforded by the BlueSky thermal survey data
enables us to effectively target our activities and resources. We
can identify specific vulnerable properties from the desktop, and
offer advice, practical support and grants," said councillor Peter
Connor.
