Some 91% of IT organisations carry out full scenario
testing ofdisaster recovery plans, but nearly
50% of those tests fail, according to aSymantecsurvey of 900 IT
managers.
A significant 77% of CEOs are still failing to take an active
role in disaster planning committees in spite of the fines
businesses can face, said Symantec.
The study findings also found that 69% of respondents are
concerned about suffering damage to their company's brand and
reputation, 65% fear harm to overall customer loyalty, 65% are
concerned about the impact to their competitive standing, and 64%
worry about losing company data in the wake of
disasters.
According to the research findings, 48% of organisations have
had to execute their disaster recovery plans. Additionally, 44% of
organisations without a disaster recovery plan experienced one
problem or disaster, while 26% experience two or more, and 11%
experienced three or more.
