Linden Lab - creators of global hit Second Life - and IBM -
creator of, well, the very interesting mainframe - are working on a
joint project to allow a single character created in a virtual
world to travel to different ones.
Currently, a character created in Second Life can only operate
within its confines and cannot enter other worlds.
But Linden Lab's and IBM's project would allow users to create a
single avatar to represent themselves across multiple virtual
worlds.
Downtime can see the attraction of musing on the possibility of
parallel worlds. Somewhere out there in the eternal ether that is
the multi-verse, there is a magazine where Downtime is on the front
cover, all IT projects are successful and network managers are
kings.
