Royal Mailhas recruitedDiageo's CIO to replace its former CIO
David Burden, who retired in the summer.
Robin Dargue will leave his position as CIO at the drinks giant,
which he took on in 2003, and will start his new role at Royal
Mail, a Diageo spokeswoman confirmed. No replacement has been
announced yet.
Royal Mail confirmed that Dargue will start by the end of
October. Dargue had previously worked at Mars and
Logica Financial Systems, before becoming IS director at UDV,
which became part of
Guinness and then part of Diageo.
Dargue successfully oversaw the deployment of a
global enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to support
Diageo's core back-office processes.
Speaking at a Forrester event earlier in the year,
Dargue said that the role of the CIO was changing, moving from
just managing technology, to managing the delivery of
business results through innovation, as IT becomes more
involved with the way companies work.
"The conversation CIOs will now be having with CEOs will centre
around what functions IT could be performing to help the business
grow and differentiate themselves in the market," he said.
