SAP has introducedSAP Business Bydesign, its on-demand
business software for midsized companies. Priced at £75 per month
per user, Bydesign has been introduced to complement SAP's existing
Business One, Business All-in-One and Business Suite products. It
has been designed to support growing businesses with 100 to 500
employees.
Henning Kagermann, CEO at SAP AG, said, "SAP Business Bydesign
is designed to dramatically simplify IT for midsize companies by
substantially reducing the cost of ownership and combining
efficiency with business flexibility."
SAP will rely significantly on its partner ecosystem strategy to
drive the SAP Business Bydesign offering. SAP is currently engaging
with early system reseller and service partners, as well as with
complementary content partners.
SAP is planning to include SAP Business Bydesign as part of its
PartnerEdge programme in 2008. Through this programme, current SAP
reseller partners will be invited to apply and qualify, with the
expectation that they will build a new business around SAP Business
Bydesign that reflects the volume, nature and requirements of the
system. Sap has developed Bydesign from the ground up using
Netweaver
Payroll service ADP is one organisation planning to use Business
Bydesign. Through a tie-up with ADP, SAP will be able to offer
Bydesign users payroll services built into the product using
ADP.
Duncan Jones, senior analyst at Forrester Research, said, "It is
interesting how SAP plans to plug into other service providers for
creating services."
He expected SAP to work with other service companies to build
additional services into Business Bydesign.
