Intel will bring its teacher training program online to
help more than 1.5 million teachers in 15 countries learn how to
best integrate technology into their lesson plans to help students
learn.
The move is expected to cost Intel around £150m over four years.
"One of the best ways to help students develop the skills they need
to succeed is to help their teachers teach them," said Intel
chairman, Craig Barrett.
"With the launch of the new online Intel Teach course, teachers
can learn how to integrate technology into their classrooms in
their own time, and at their own pace. This commitment reflects
Intel's strong belief that teachers, much more than computers, are
the real magic in the classroom," he said.
The Intel Teach Programme
operates through active partnerships with national, regional and
local governments. Intel will now work with ministries of education
in 15 countries.
Along with the US, the project covers Australia, Brazil, Chile,
China, Egypt, France, India, Ireland, South Korea, Mexico, Russia,
Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the US.
