IBMsays its freeLotus Symphony productivity suitehas
attracted 100,000 registered users in the first week of
release.
The software is aimed at both businesses and consumers and the
download rate surpasses the initial record held by established
messaging product Lotus Notes, said IBM.
Lotus Symphony is integrated with the latest version of the
paid-for Notes suite, but can be used as a standalone product.
The free product uses the open-source
Open Document Format (ODF) to support file creation and
sharing.
Lotus Symphony is comprised of three core applications: Lotus
Symphony Documents, Lotus Symphony Spreadsheets and Lotus Symphony
Presentations.
