Linksys ships eight new switches to ease SME network management

Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems, has released eight "smart" switches for supporting the growing demands of small businesses.

The Linksys Business Series Smart Ethernet Switches are designed as a cost-effective option for small office environments, corporate workgroups or network edge applications that require simple web management, network security and easy installation, said Linksys.

Marty Wachi, senior manager of product marketing for connected office business at Linksys, said, "We have expanded our Business Series Smart Ethernet Switch line so that small business users can quickly get many of the key benefits of a fully-managed network without the added cost and complexity."

The switches offer an easy-to-use, web-based interface ideal for small businesses that do not have dedicated IT staff. The smart switches allow the management of network traffic with minimal technical expertise, said Linksys.

The switches range in price from £100 to £400, and are shipping now.
