Unisys has dismissed reports in the Washington Post that
it was to blame for data breaches at theUS Department for
Homeland Securitylast year.
Unisys said, "The allegation that Unisys did not properly
install essential security systems is incorrect. In addition, we
routinely follow prescribed security protocols and have properly
reported incidents to the customer in accordance with those
protocols."
Unisys said, "We are proud of our work and believe it has
significantly strengthened the integrity and performance of the
agency's information infrastructure in the difficult years
following September 11, 2001."
Unisys began providing security services to the DHS in 2003. The
company has provided DHS with government-certified and accredited
security programs and systems, which were in place when data
breaches took place in 2006.
Those breaches came to light this year. The systems in question
remain in place today, said Unisys.
Unisys said, "We believe that a proper investigation of this
matter will conclude that Unisys acted in good faith to meet the
customer's security requirements."
In the UK, Unisys has been slammed by the Unite union for
planning to close its final salary pension scheme.
