Government to research privacy of IT systems

The government is to spend up to £10m researching how the next generation of identity management infrastructures can offer assured privacy, and depend on truly informed consent. It is calling for expressions of interest by19 September.

It said, "Over the next few years governments and businesses will be making substantial investment in identity management infrastructures and supporting the implementation of initiatives to transform delivery of public and private sector services. Practical and cost-effective solutions are needed which inspire citizen confidence by improving privacy and enabling consent as an integral part of future procurements."
