Perceived security weaknesses in wireless networks is preventing 43% of firms adopting them, says a survey.

Independent research conducted on behalf of wireless network security firm AirMagnet also found that 29% of firms were delaying wireless deployments because they thought current wireless technology was slower or less reliable than traditional wired networks.

Of those companies that had already deployed wireless networks, employee mobility (43%), convenience (23%) and increased productivity (12%) were the chief factors for using wireless connectivity.

Among firms using wireless, 63% said they planned to widen their deployments.
