Fujitsu spins off technology and design operations

Fujitsu is spinning off its technology and design divisions to raise much-needed cash for the struggling group.
From 1 October, the newly created Fujitsu Advanced Technologies and Fujitsu Design companies will offer their services to third-party companies, in addition to supporting the operations of Fujitsu itself.
The two new companies will continue to be owned by the Fujitsu group, which has slipped into the red following a set of bad results triggered by poor outsourcing contracts and other problems.
The new companies will offer other companies support in areas such as high-speed signal processing and other circuit technologies, micro-assembly, component mounting, cooling and other packaging technologies, component technologies, and IT-based simulation technologies and testing.
