Confirming Downtime's suspicion that the only major flaw in the modern world is people, is the high-tech environment of Barclays Bank.

With straight-through banking the aim of all major banks, it is surprising that a customer can walk into a branch in London and be told that it is not possible to register a change of address because the bank is "too small".

When asked why this happened a Barclays spokeswoman told Downtime, "In the past, only personal bankers could do this, so if it did not have one they may have thought it was not possible."

She added that software allowed all cashiers to do this now and that "they must not have realised".

It is sad to see that people continue to let down their hardworking computer colleagues.
