Young IT talent is needed to represent the UK at a
skills challenge in The Netherlands next year.
In 2008, talented young people from across the UK will compete
in six skills for the chance to win a gold medal at the newly
launched
EuroSkills
Competition.
UK
Skills, the non-profit organisation that champions skills and
learning for work, is organising the UK entry to the competition
and is looking for young people to take part in the IT Office Team
Challenge short-listing competition.
The IT Office Team Challenge is an ideal opportunity for those
training for ICT related work roles to test themselves in a
simulated work environment.
Teams of four competitors will be assessed on their technical
skills as well as wider skills including team work and
communication.
Organisations may either enter individuals - who will be placed
in teams on the competition day - or full teams. Competitors must
be 16 to 25 years of age and be preparing for one or more of the
following roles that make up a team:
Cisco specialist, Microsoft specialist,
open source
specialist, office manager.
The short-listing competition is organised by Barnfield College
with the support of Cisco Systems and Microsoft. Competitors must
enter by 19 October 2007 for the competition heats running from the
22 to 23 November at Barnfield College.
Competitors must be studying at an advanced or higher level.
Jacqui Henderson, chief executive of UK Skills, said, "I would like
colleges, work-based training providers and employers to encourage
their learners to enter the short-listing competitions for
EuroSkills."
