Microsoft has released Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1). New features include support for Windows Server 2008, better integration with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and improved mobile device management.
As part of the technology preview, nearly one million Microsoft Developer Network and TechNet subscribers can download the service pack beta. Microsoft said more than 150,000 people were already testing SP1 at organisations including the US Army, Oconics and Windrush Frozen Foods.
A major design goal of Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, following the public beta release last year, is to support large, low-cost mailboxes. To achieve this, Exchange 2007 has significantly reduced I/O throughput with access to greater amounts of system memory.
