Derby City Council selects Jadu's Galaxies content management system for its schools

Derby City Council has selected the Galaxies content management system from content management system specialist Jadu to supply its schools.

The council will use the Jadu Galaxies platform, which is aimed at non technical people, to implement a content management system for any school wishing to join the programme.

Jadu Galaxies was launched in June 2006 and has delivered over 100 content management systems since then. Clients range from local authorities, like Rossendale Borough Council to commercial organisations like Messe Frankfurt.

"Derby City Council has always been known for its innovation in technology," Suraj Kika, chief executive of Jadu, said. "We are thrilled that soon students in primary and secondary schools in Derby will have their first web publishing experience."

Councillor Philip Hickson, cabinet member for community safety and e-government at Derby City Council, added: "Jadu demonstrated that they could deliver the service and support needed to help the council pilot using content management in schools. We think the internet and modern web publishing technologies will be at the core of education in the future. We want to ensure that schools are well prepared, firstly with their own websites, and also with the concept of online publishing as a learning and communications tool."
