A
data recovery company has issued advice for firms affected by
the recentfloods in England.
Kroll Ontrack is currently working with flooded businesses and
has given its top five tips in dealing with flooding.
They tell companies:
-Do not attempt to power-up water damaged equipment
-Do not attempt to dry water-damaged media by opening it or
exposing it to heat
-Do not attempt to freeze dry media
-Do not shake the equipment
-Do not attempt to clean the equipment using household
substances.
Managing director Phil Bridge said, "Data recovery from
equipment damaged in floods can still be possible, as long as
people act correctly in the first instance.
"Ensure the equipment is sent to a professional recovery expert
in the state in which it is found, without any tampering. This will
give engineers the best chance to recover the data."
