A job management system developed using business process management (BPM) technology is being used by property maintenance company Rok to organise repairs following the floods in Sheffield and Hull last month.

The company, which provides local builders to undertake repairs on behalf of insurance companies, developed the application to streamline processes using the Handysoft BPM tool.

The Rokflow application presents Rok's office staff with the status of insurance jobs, covering the processing of an insurance claim from initial customer contact and site survey through to completion of the repairs.

Richard Gifford, group IT director at Rok, said the software had helped Rok improve customer service by allowing homeowners to check the status of their repair claims online.

Insurers can connect into Rokflow via an XML link or a password-protected website to submit new insurance work.

A new version of the software is due to go live in mid-August. The upgrade, on which Rok spent £1m, has been designed to support the company's plans to grow its maintenance business from £80m to £250m within five years.
