Philips has signed a multi million pound business processing outsourcing deal with Indian outsourcer Infosys.

As part of the deal, 1,400 Philips IT staff will transfer to Infosys. The multi-year deal will provide Philips with finance and accounting services and the processing of purchase orders.

Infosys will also acquire three shared service centres located in India, Poland and Thailand from Philips, where the electrical goods firm already had established offshore operations.

"Infosys clearly demonstrated a willingness to invest in people with a strong HR process, better solution quality, ability to leverage end-to-end process improvements and a robust risk mitigation and transition plan," said Gerard Ruizendaal, chief strategy officer and group controller for Royal Philips Electronics.
