BT begins enterprise resource planning standardisation plan

BT is undertaking a global enterprise resource planning project to provide a standard way for classifying data across its finance management reporting division.

The telecoms company aims to establish consistent master data for the enterprise from data held in more than 100 Oracle and other databases.

"Operating in more than 170 countries, our organisation faces complex reporting challenges. With multiple silos of data and platforms that do not effectively talk to one another, we need to manage reference data and deliver reliable performance management reports," said Martin Hunter, head of reference data management for BT Group Finance.

Getting different departments to classify sets of data under standard categories will also make it easier for the business to provide a single, transparent view of different product lines and customers.
