Business managers are generally happy with thework of their CIOs, according to a
survey carried out by analyst IDC.
IDC questioned 413 firms with more than 20 employees across
France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK to gauge business
managers' views on IT strategies and the
role of IT in their organisation.
"While business managers are quite satisfied with their IT
managers, they have clear priorities in mind on how IT could better
support their business and strategic objectives," said IDC
analyst Angela Vacca.
Vacca said, "These priorities are extremely different from
vertical to vertical and seldom include cost-cutting among the top
issues."
The survey found that IT managers have helped almost 70% of
business managers in the innovation of the company.
In addition, about 20% of companies consider IT managers to be
initiators of new business strategies.
Business managers are much more interested in IT helping to
satisfy business requirements, rather than increasing worker
productivity, the survey found.
Almost 60% of business managers interviewed would like to see
their companies investing more in in-house IT.
