Hackers managed to steal information from theUS Department of Transportationand several firms by using fake job listings for employees, reports Reuters.

Companies affected by the data breach included consulting firm Booz Allen, HP, satellite network provider Hughes Network Systems, and Unisys.

The breach was originally disclosed by UK internet security firm Prevx, Reuters reports. The job ads were sent via e-mail to a small number of employees and contained malware, said Prevx.

Once information was grabbed from corporate PCs, the information was redirected to a rogue website hosted by Yahoo.

It is believed information was stolen from around 1,000 corporate PCs. The FBI is now investigating the reported breaches.
