Stephen Timms given new role in Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform

Stephen Timms

The former chief secretary to the Treasury Stephen Timms has moved to the newly formed Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) to take up the role.

Timm's ministerial boss will be BERR head John Hutton.

Timms was minister for e-commerce and competitiveness at the Department of Trade and Industry between May 2002 and June 2003.

Prior to moving into public office, Timms had worked for around 15 years in the computing and telecoms industries, including stints at Logica and analyst Ovum.
