Firms aim to moderniselegacy systemsrather than replace
them, a survey bySoftwareAG reports.
The survey of 180 firms by the infrastructure software supplier
said organisations put business-centric concerns above IT-centric
concerns when contemplating the future of legacy systems.
Respondents considered modernisation far more frequently than
rewriting, replacing or outsourcing as their legacy system
strategy, said Software AG
The survey showed that respondents have moved away from
IT-centric considerations, such as cost savings and platform
consolidation, as their primary focus for legacy systems.
Instead, they are much more concerned with business-centric
issues, such as real-time access to legacy data, agility and
flexibility to meet business demands.
