Employee management software companyInfobasissaid it is difficult to find
experienced staff with the right skills.
The firm said none of the
more experienced IT staff they spoke to for four positions last
year had an appreciation of how their job could affect the
business, and director Don Taylor said he was happier to take
on untrained graduates who knew the business value of their
work.
He said, "We had previously tried to get people through seven
different specialist agencies, none of which could provide us with
what we were looking for.
"They were people who could write in program language, but who
did not have the combination of skills and the business
'savvy-ness' that we wanted.
"We are looking for people with an ability to understand how
software will be used, not just how to create it."
Taylor said, "They need the ability to understand and analyse
data from a business point of view, plus they need the technical
ability to do the analysis."
