The public private sector partnership for IT skills and
training,
e-skills UK has welcomed the creation of three new government
departments focusing on
training and
skills.
The organization says the
restructuring of the Department for Education and Skills and the
Department of Trade and Industry is good news for the IT
industry, showing a commitment to global competitiveness.
Karen Price, e-skills chief executive, said the Department of
Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) will focus on expanding
high-end graduate skills, while the Department for Business,
Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (DBERR) will be responsible for
creating a competitive business environment.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) will
help prepare young people for successful careers. Karen Price said,
“e-skills UK welcomes the Prime Minister’s emphasis on the twin
trends of globalisation and technological change. We are delighted
that the Government has put the need for world class skills and
innovation at the heart of its drive to meet the challenges and
opportunities of globalization.”
