The public private sector partnership for IT skills and training, e-skills UK has welcomed the creation of three new government departments focusing on training and skills.

The organization says the restructuring of the Department for Education and Skills and the Department of Trade and Industry is good news for the IT industry, showing a commitment to global competitiveness.

Karen Price, e-skills chief executive, said the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) will focus on expanding high-end graduate skills, while the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (DBERR) will be responsible for creating a competitive business environment.

The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) will help prepare young people for successful careers. Karen Price said, “e-skills UK welcomes the Prime Minister’s emphasis on the twin trends of globalisation and technological change. We are delighted that the Government has put the need for world class skills and innovation at the heart of its drive to meet the challenges and opportunities of globalization.”
