Users of virtualisation software say they are unable to get support for applications. As reported last week, IT workers have objected to the cost of software licences for virtual applications.

Users have now also said it is difficult to get support for applications running on virtual servers, and some have been forced to run the application on a physical server.

Gary Sussex, ICT services manager at Newham Council, said some third-party software suppliers would not support virtualisation.

Guy Martin, head of VMware's UK business partner programme, said, "Some suppliers will not support production software on VMware."
