Mastercard Worldwide has announced the results
of a trial of its mobile phone embedded payment card.
The technology uses
radio frequency to enable secure,
contactless communication between two devices at close
range.
In partnership with Taiwan Mobile and Taipei Fubon Bank, the
credit-card firm tested the MasterCard Mobile with PayPass system
on a Nokia phone with 100 people.
More than 75% of those tested preferred using the system to
traditional contact-based cards.
The survey reported, “67% of programme participants were
satisfied with the trial experience and would like to continue or
renew their MasterCard
Mobile Pay Pass in the future.”
