EMC partners with Indian outsourcer, Wipro
EMC has announced a global strategic alliance with Indian
outsourcing giant Wipro to expand its reach into worldwide markets.
The company will train approximately 1,000 Wipro employees on EMC
technologies to help in presales, delivery and product
development.
CommVault offers more shares
CommVault announced it will make a secondary public offering of 7.9
million shares at $17, potentially raising over $134 million to pay
of debts. The company went public a year ago and raised $161
million.
Data Domain prices IPO
Data deduplication supplier Data Domain hopes to raise around $78
million from an IPO later this year, according to documents filed
with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The company
amended its S-1filing to say that it will offer just under 7.4
million shares, priced at between $11.50 and $13.50.
Symantec brushes up Enterprise Vault, adds new
service
At the Vision conference this week, Symantec announced Information
Foundation, an Information Risk Management product suite that will
integrate IP acquired with IMLogic for instant-message archiving.
Enterprise Vault 2007 will now also include new reports to
demonstrate chain of custody of messages for e-discovery, as well
as export to third-party litigation support tools. The company also
announced a new service spanning all of its product groups,
including storage, called Symantec Foundation IT Risk Assessment,
which uses a "peer benchmarking platform" made up of 800 customer
surveys on IT risk management to assess risks in users'
environments.
Plasmon builds medical archive for SMBs
Plasmom launched the Archive Appliance Express developed
specifically to address the needs of small and midsized medical
businesses, the company claimed. Plasmon is working with
value-added integrators in the medical field to bring the Archive
Appliance Express to Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS)
offerings to smaller companies.
Nexsan adds TByte drives
Nexsan Technologies announced that it is offering storage systems
using Hitachi Global Storage Technologies' new Ultrastar A7K1000 1
terabyte (TB) enterprise-class hard drives, which will be
incorporated into the company's SATABeast, SATABoy and SATABlade
products. These new hard drives add 33% increased capacity over
existing configurations.
Law firm uses Index Engines
Constantine & Aborn Advisory Services LLC (CAAS), a litigation
consulting company, has selected Index Engines for the electronic
discovery of backup tape data. Index Engines allows users to search
backup tapes without first restoring the content, significantly
speeding up the time to search for data.
Atempo joins archiving party
Atempo, Inc. made its entry into the archiving market with the
Atempo Archive Server (AAS), a file-based archiving product with a
dedicated metadata management system and open architecture
Pivot3 launches RAIGE
Pivot3 Inc. made its entry into the scalable network storage market
with an IP-based storage cluster. The Pivot3 RAIGE (RAID Across
Independent Gigabit Ethernet) Storage Cluster is the first system
based on the Pivot3 block-level virtualization architecture.
