The Gumtree.com community website is standardising on
the open source
MySQL Enterprise database platform to support its rapid growth
and scalability requirements.
Gumtree.com provides community notice boards and now covers over
70 cities across eight countries, and recently expanded into Asia.
The site includes a classifieds section with integrated map
technology to help users locate flat-shares, rentals and items for
sale.
“We were
looking for a database that was scalable, reliable, robust and
affordable. We use MySQL to store all of our transaction data and
to power all of our searches, so it was important for us to select
a database that would grow with our needs,” said Phil Chambers,
head of technology at Gumtree.com.
MySQL Enterprise consists of production-tested software,
proactive monitoring tools and premium support services.
