Large firms fail to monitor databases for security

Tuesday 05 June 2007 02:48

More than 40% of large firms do not monitor their databases for suspicious activity or do not know if such monitoring occurs.

A Ponemon Institute survey on behalf of data security firm Application Security revealed there was an organisational disconnect between the realisation of threats and the urgency in addressing them.

The Ponemon Institute, a security research specialist, surveyed 649 respondents in corporate IT departments worldwide.

The survey found that more than half of the firms that didn’t monitor their databases ran more than 500 databases, illustrating the potential threat.
