Toshiba is to use laptop chips from AMD for the first
time, ending its exclusive relationship with Intel,
reports Reuters.
Toshiba, which is the world's fourth-largest laptop PC
manufacturer, said it expects to use
AMD processors in about 20% of the notebooks it sells in the US
and Europe, says Reuters.
Dell, the world’s second largest PC manufacturer, announced last
year, that it would also be using AMD processors for the first
time, again ending an exclusive relationship with Intel.
Toshiba will use AMD chips for both consumer and enterprise
laptops from this summer.
Intel has around 80% of the PC microprocessor market.
