A massive 80% of UK businesses are confident that they
have a full or reasonable
business continuity plan in place, according to
Version One.
The
document management and imaging company asked 75 UK
organisations whether their business would survive a major disaster
with 37% claiming to have a full plan in place and 43% said they
had a reasonable plan.
The results show a 20% increase in companies showing this level
of confidence, compared to figures for a survey in January
2006.
Tony Bray, Version One’s sales and marketing director says of
these findings, “It is heartening that so many organisations are
claiming to have business recovery plans in place should the worst
happen. However, it is also clear that companies who claim to have
reasonable plans are failing to consider all areas of the business
when preparing for a disaster.”
But the survey also left questions unanswered with 32% of the
80% who claimed to have full or reasonable plans failing to explain
what these plans involved.
