Compuware has extended its
business service management (BSM) software to help firms
quantify the business benefits of new applications.
The firm has introduced Vantage Service Manager, which is based
on
Compuware’s recent acquisition of Proxima Technology’s Centauri
Business Service Manager.
Compuware said, the product has been fully integrated into the
Compuware Vantage BSM product line and is designed to align IT
service delivery with business objectives.
“One of the potential benefits of using a BSM tool is that it
helps IT present to its business unit customers a business-oriented
display of how well IT services are performing in support of
critical business processes,” said Debra Curtis, a research vice
president at Gartner.
“BSM products identify the IT services impacted by IT component
problems, helping to prioritise operational tasks and support
efforts relative to business impact,” she said.
Vantage Service Manager delivers pre-packaged dashboards for IT
and line-of-business users in order to better meet the needs of
enterprise customers.
Compuware said these out-of-the-box dashboards provide real-time
and historical information regarding business-critical services,
enabling enterprises to quickly achieve value from their BSM
implementation.
