IT support workers are among 1,100 staff who will lose
their jobs when
Barclays Bank shrinks operations at its Dorset office and
moves some roles overseas.
The bank plans to cut 1,100 jobs over the next three years at
Barclays House in Poole, which has 2,000 employees, including an IT
support team and cheque processing staff.
A Barclays spokesman said, "There will be some redundancies in
the IT support department and there is going to be some
outsourcing. It has not been decided how many roles will be
offshored, but we estimate it will be about 400."
Amicus official Steve Pantak said the union was concerned by the
scale of the cuts. "We will be working with the bank to ensure the
maximum number of redeployments and voluntary redundancies," he
said.
