Building material firm HeidelbergCement is improving its
supply chain with an
i2 Technologies platform.
HeidelbergCement, Germany's biggest cement producer, has
selected the i2 Supply Chain Strategist system to drive more
efficiency through its production and distribution network.
The system is designed to support key strategic decisions at
each stage of the supply chain, from raw materials procurement to
finished goods distribution.
It can provide insight into the “trade offs” between alternative
strategies regarding site location, facility missions, product mix,
transportation strategies and inventory deployment strategies.
“After testing i2 Supply Chain Strategist for several months, we
learned first-hand its ability to represent and optimise our
complex supply chain, leading us to believe that i2 can help us
achieve our goals," said Thomas Kern, director for group strategy
& development at HeidelbergCement.
The initial implementation will be in eastern European
countries, with plans for an eventual broader rollout.
