The NHS’ North Mersey Health Informatics Service is
implementing theMSoft Blood Tracking
system.
The project covers blood issue and tracking through to
collection for clinical use for a total of 17 transfusion fridges
across five sites in a multi-campus deployment.
The contract is designed to improve efficiency, security, and
data management, and comply with
EC directives for blood auditing covering patient safety and
care.
The project also incorporates Msoft’s software and kiosk
technology from IBM.
John James, project manager for North Mersey HIS, said, “The
enterprise class system architecture and use of a Microsoft Windows
platform simplifies integration with the
Connecting for Health framework
and supports easier data transfer to the
electronic patient record.
“All of which means that the project should not suffer the
limitations of a standalone solution as we develop new needs from
technology.”
The system covers both the Royal and Broadgreen University
Hospitals NHS Trust and Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation
Trust.
These Trusts will not only serve their local needs but also act
as the hubs serving a further 15 NHS blood issue fridges at other
hospitals.
