Fujitsu Siemens Computers is to
provide CA’s tape
management products for z/OS mainframes.
Through the agreement, Fujitsu mainframe users will be able to
run CA’s CA 1 Tape Management and CA 1 Tape Management Copycat
Utility.
The products will enable z/OS users to optimise tape management
for data backup with
CentricStor, and will provide greater
flexibility to adapt their IT environment to company
requirements, said Fujitsu.
CentricStor is a virtual tape system that offers integrated
“disk-to-disk-to-tape” architecture for all corporate data. Fujitsu
has certified the CA solutions for operation with its CentricStor
environment.
Fujitsu plans to integrate CentricStor’s event-controlled
reporting with
CA Vantage Storage Resource Manager to support
CentricStor users in storage planning and automation.
CA 1 Tape Management automates the lifecycle management of z/OS
tape data to save time and money while providing comprehensive
protection against the inadvertent destruction of tape files saved
on CentricStor.
Users can take advantage of the CA 1 Tape Management Copycat
Utility to easily migrate their data to a CentricStor environment,
while the corresponding metadata remains consistent in the tape
management database.
The CA Vantage Storage Resource Manager is a z/OS storage
management system with centralised monitoring and policy-based
automation. It helps reduce costs and administration by simplifying
the management of complex enterprise storage environments.
