IBM joins Honda racing team for Formula 1 car development

TheHonda Racing Formula 1Team is to work withIBMon the development and production of its 2008 Formula 1 car, leaning in particular on IBM's project management capabilities to track the project.

A virtual system will enable real-time collaboration and remote access to design systems for engineers around the world.

David France, IT director of the Honda Racing Formula 1 Team, said staff would also use IBM's project lifecycle management and data modelling software as part of efforts to get ahead of the competition in the engineering stakes and on the racetrack.
