Erewash Borough Council in Derbyshire expects to reduce
the cost and physical storage space requirements of its paper
documents and files with the introduction of an electronic document
and records management (EDRM) system from
Tower Software.
The council expects that double-handling and loss of files will
become a thing of the past for the authority’s 250 users, using the
Trim Context system.
The solution integrates with Erewash’s existing Singularity
business process management system as well as its Northgate CRM
system.
Once fully deployed, the EDRM system will manage up to three
million documents and save Erewash an estimated £80,000 in space
and storage costs.
Stuart Lloyd, assistant director of customer services at
Erewash, said, “We have already scanned 150,000 documents in
revenue and benefits, and we expect this to rise to one
million over the coming years.
“The beauty of Trim Context is not only its ability to move us
away from paper-based systems, but also its ability to enable us to
pick up both e-mail and documents like Word and put them
together.”
The roll-out of the corporate EDRM system across council
departments will be completed by early 2009, as the authority
implements the solution in specific departments on a case by case
basis.
