NHS recruitment and management authority NHS
Professionals has signed a six-year £19m finance outsourcing
contract with joint venture
NHS Shared Business Services
(NHS SBS).
The contract will cover services to 58,000 customers, suppliers
and flexible workers under the NHS Professionals umbrella.
NHS Professionals provides staff recruitment and management to
NHS Trusts in the UK. By outsourcing this process, NHS
Professionals said it will be able to improve its current finance
and accounting functionality and scale to future needs of the
organisation, as well as ensuring more staff are available to offer
front line care.
“This contract will help us to enhance our strategic focus on
the development of NHS Professionals and it will deliver guaranteed
cost savings,” said Andy Leary, director of finance at NHS
Professionals.
“The service offered by NHS SBS will provide access to enhanced
F&A functionality and in turn the increased financial control
inherent in the NHS SBS service,” said Leary.
“We are now bringing together two key members of the NHS family to
realise cost savings that will allow more doctors, nurses and
clinical staff to focus on patient care,” said Peter Coates, deputy
director of finance at the Department of Health. “This new contract
is a blueprint for how public sector shared services should work,”
he said.
