The
Metropolitan Police Service Counter Terrorism
Command division has begun working with The
Virtual Exercise System (VES) to help
businesses plan and practice their response to major incidents such
as flooding or terrorist attacks.
Participants use a web questionnaire to test their response to a
virtual disaster. They also have the opportunity to ask questions
of the test-experts and share information in the secure forum.
“It is no longer enough to just have made continuity
plans. Businesses must challenge these, testing for any gaps,” said
Baroness Jo Valentine, chief executive of London First.
The initiative forms part of Project Argus, which is a
nationwide programme of events for business leaders, using a series
of multi-media simulation techniques to help identify steps they
can take to prevent, handle and recover from a terrorist
attack.
