Apple has fixed more than 40
security holes in its Mac operating system in a mammoth
patch.
The OS upgrade to Mac OS X v10.4.9 with Update 2007-003 can be
downloaded and installed via Software Update preferences or from
Apple Downloads.
The fixes address remote hacking, cross-site scripting errors
and access without privileges faults in various functions of the
Mac system, including incorrect ways the system operates with
third-party applications and peripherals.
The number of faults Apple addresses in its OS now regularly
outnumbers the total number addressed by Microsoft in Windows.
Microsoft didn‘t release any security patches as part of its
monthly patching cycle this month, although Apple would argue that
several of its latest fixes address only a very small number of
users with niche setups.
