London Undergroundis advertising for a head of systems integration to oversee
the modernisation programme of the entire Tube
network.
The new head of systems integration will co-ordinate the two
private sector groups that manage the network with the strategy of
Transport for London. The
maintenance of the 253 miles of track and 275 stations that make up
the Tube network is split between Metronet and Tube Lines.
Whoever gets the job will have to deliver the IT systems needed
for TfL’s six major
modernisation projects: the new signalling centre for the
Victoria line, the link to Heathrow’s Terminal 5, the extension to
the East London line, redevelopment in Watford, new interchanges
and the proposed cooling system.
London Underground said that the post would be responsible for
ensuring that London Underground controls the systems integration
risks and activities within its network, particularly in relation
to safety and reliability issues.
The strategy for the Tube network is set by the
mayor of
London .
