BT to offer smartphones to VoIP business users

At the 3GSM mobile conference in Barcelona yesterday, BT said it will be offering its VoIP business users Wi-Fi-enabled smartphones for the first time.
These will come from manufacturers HTC and HP, and will be based on Microsoft’s new Windows Mobile 6 operating system.
The handsets are expected to be available in the second quarter of 2007 and will allow BT to offer what it described as “affordable converged services for customers over our wireless broadband and mobile networks”.
BT currently offers business users lower-spec phones for its Fusion service, which allows users to make calls over the internet rather than a mobile network, and thereby cut their mobile costs.
