Luxury food retailer Julian Graves is implementing a
multi-protocol label switching wide area network as a precursor to
a nationwide Epos upgrade.
The MPLS Wan replaces a modem dial-up system that polled stores
for sales data from their tills. The dial-up system suffered from
poor connection speeds and reliability, both problems that should
be solved by implementing the new network.
Julian Graves will be able to see real-time sales information at
all 300 of its stores giving its head office more information to
plan promotions and replenishment.
The retailer is paying around £300,000 to systems integrator
s2s for the procurement and implementation
of the Cisco
hardware.
Julian Graves’ IT manager, Chris Chambers, said, “Once this new
hardware system is fully operational, we plan to develop additional
processes for all our stores to utilise the system, in turn making
it much more effective for them and ultimately for our
customers.”
Store managers will be kept informed of changes in the
assortment of goods through broadband e-mail for the first
time.
