Laplink has released a software package to allow
existing Windows users to easily move all their data and programmes
to a new Vista-driven PC.
The Vista-compatible version of
PCmover automatically moves programs, data
files and settings from an old PC to a new PC.
“With each generation of new PCs, the set-up task is becoming
more complicated and time consuming,” said Emir Aboulhosn, Laplink
vice president for global marketing communications.
“Not that long ago, only a few applications had to be
reinstalled and some critical data transferred. It wasn’t that
difficult. Now, consumers have dozens of applications to move as
well as thousands of data files – photos, music, financial records,
e-mail and more,” he said.
With PCmover, users also don’t need to find old CDs or serial
numbers to reinstall applications.
Users of PCmover can migrate from a PC running Windows95 or any
later version to any other version of Windows, including
Vista.
Any version of PCmover already purchased can be upgraded to
handle Vista migrations free of charge.
PCmover for Vista starts at £26.
